All Terrain Vehicle (SAE BAJA2018)
The BAJA SAE is an off-road racing event organized by the Society of automotive engineers. The Baja SAE competition encourages engineering students to create an off-road vehicle that can withstand the harsh impact of rugged terrain. In which I have participated as a drive train head.

Power Train Head, BAJA SAE INDIA 2018 Competition - Team Spartans

As the Power Train Head for Team Spartans in the BAJA SAE INDIA 2018 Competition, I played a critical role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing the powertrain components of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV). Our goal was to develop a rugged and high-performance off-road vehicle capable of withstanding harsh terrain and conditions.

In collaboration with a team of skilled engineers, I led the development of a reliable and efficient powertrain system for the ATV. This encompassed designing and refining key components such as the transmission, differential, and drive shaft. Advanced mechanical calculations, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) techniques, and comprehensive kinematics and dynamics analysis were employed to ensure optimal performance.

Extensive testing and simulation were conducted to validate the capabilities of the powertrain system under the demanding conditions of off-road racing. Based on the performance data gathered, I meticulously optimized the design, utilizing customized manufacturing methods and meticulous material selection processes. These efforts resulted in an impressive 30% increase in ATV efficiency compared to the previous version, thereby enhancing the overall competitiveness of our vehicle.

Throughout the project, I developed strong leadership and communication skills by effectively managing the Power Train team and collaborating closely with other functional teams, including Chassis, Suspension, and Brakes. This multidisciplinary approach allowed for seamless integration and synchronization of various subsystems, ensuring the harmonious operation of the ATV.

Engaging in this project provided valuable experience in project management, technical problem-solving, and effective collaboration – all of which are highly prized in engineering and related fields. The achievement of securing the 2nd position at the regional level and the 32nd position at the national level, among 150 teams, reflects the effectiveness of our design and the dedication of our team.

By employing advanced mechanical calculations, GD&T techniques, and rigorous analysis, along with customized design and manufacturing methods, we successfully optimized the powertrain system of our ATV, leading to a remarkable increase in efficiency and a notable position in the competition.
